panorama montagne

The village where we are based is called Smerillo, with a 360-degree panorama from the Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic Sea.

Starting from Agritourism AMARGI, you can go hiking, cycling, or horse riding in the Smerillo Woods or in the charming National Park of the Sibillini Mountains.

There is an infinity of trails to discover these huge but gentle mountains, where in springtime you can find more than 50 different species of wild orchids.

For those of you who love visiting villages, museums and archaeological sites, there are plenty of options in the surroundings. We will be happy to give you suggestions.

If you want to relax, you will find the St. Ruffino Lake, where you can also rent canoes.

During your holiday, you will enjoy unforgettable panoramas of the hills of the Marche, the Italian region where Smerillo is located.

Right next to Smerillo is Montefalcone Appennino, with its own rather interesting landscape. It boasts a rich natural history museum.

Just a few kilometres away are several villages rich in artistic culture. Among the others, Montefortino and its amazing art gallery “Fortunato Duranti”.

The Sibillini Mountains are the realm of a fairy who is a charmer (according to some) or a demoniac creature (according to others). According to the legend, the Sibyl lives in a cave situated at the bare and smooth top of the Sibilla mountain. She is described as a prophet virgin in the Aeneid and as a charming beauty in the Renaissance.

“She had the most agreeable complexion, enchanting curves, charming language” (Andrea da Barberini, “Guerin Meschino del 1473”).

Explorers and curious visitors have always tried to find out the Sibyl’s realm, entering the cave through a narrow passage in order to bring back enigmatic proofs of those mysterious abysses. Suddenly the passage closed and the myth of the Sibyl remained to fascinate us.
